Before entering, make sure you meet all the requirements for the contest!
All entries that meet the requirements are automatically entered into a pool of consideration for the prizes: The winner receives $750, the runner-up gets $250. Additionally, applicants from Tracy/West San Joaquin County are eligible for a separate $500 Community Award.
Applicants can only win one prize.
Anyone between the ages 10-25 is welcome to enter. If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian’s permission to enter.
Guidelines
- Runtime: Video submissions must be 1-6 minutes long, including any credits.
- Topic: Contestants will film a video about an environmental issue of their choice. Videos
are required to include the statement, “This video was created as an entry for Tri-Valley
CAREs’ 2024 Youth Environmental Video Contest.” - Style: Any style or genre, including animation, drama, slideshow, stop motion, comedy,
musical, or documentary is welcome. Be creative! - Collaboration – Multiple contestants may collaborate on one video. Checks for winning
collaborative videos will be written to one name. - Deadline and Submission: Submissions must be posted online during the dates of the
contest. Entrants must comply with the terms of service — including any community
guidelines and copyright policies — for the platform that hosts your video:
Make sure your video is not set to Private. You may set it to “Unlisted” on YouTube. If your video is removed from the host platform for violation of its terms of service, you will be disqualified from the contest.

Additional Information
- Plagiarism and Permissions: All videos must be original work of the person whose name appears on the submission form. AI-generated material is not permitted. Use of video footage, music, or graphics that exists in the public domain, is deemed fair use, or for which you have obtained permission is acceptable.
- Ownership: You retain ownership of your video, but participation in the contest constitutes the entrant’s permission and consent, without compensation, with or without attribution, for Tri-Valley CAREs to use, reproduce, transmit, publish, distribute, adapt, edit, and/or display the submission.
