Tri-Valley CAREs’ board of directors, staff, and members spent Saturday, September 17th together in a virtual planning retreat, facilitated again this year by Marcus Pegasus.
We began the strategic process by “looking back” at the program priorities we chose at last year’s retreat, and analyzing our progress. This annual exercise provides a great foundation from which to “move forward” into the coming year. It also ensures accountability for the goals we choose.

We continued the planning process with a SWOT exercise (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) and moved from there to a deep and thoughtful discussion our potential program priorities for the next 12-months. Each priority included two to three specific opportunities for action by Tri-Valley CAREs during the year. Whew, a lot to analyze…
So, with our strategic planning “how to” materials spread before us, our collective SWOT screen-shared for review, and our discussion notes on specific priorities and their unique opportunities for action, we were ready to cast our deciding votes.
Drum roll, please… Five priorities received sufficient votes to become our strategic plan for future action.
We left the day ready to implement our priorities and make lots of “good trouble.” Indeed, we are primed to create positive change in our communities and our world. And, we are excited to be entering into our 40th year together soon!
