SUMMARY:Pit Production Letter to the Editor Training
DESCRIPTION:Join the Union of Concerned Scientists’ letter to the editor training! \nThe National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is attempting to ramp up the production of nuclear bomb cores\, called plutonium pits. The production of these “pits” will happen in South Carolina and New Mexico\, with support from facilities in California\, and Missouri. These pits for new weapons are unnecessary\, expensive\, and potentially dangerous. While the NNSA conducts their Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) of pit production\, it is important we continue to demonstrate opposition and raise important questions about the program. \nThe Union of Concerned Scientists invites you to their letter to the editor training—learn how to voice your opposition to plutonium pits and the production of new nuclear weapons and educate your community by submitting letters to the editor of your local\, state\, and national newspapers. \nDate: Tuesday\, March 24\nTime: 3:00–4:00 p.m. PT \nLetters to the editor are an important tool for engaging the public and decision makers. They are typically personalized letters\, no more than 250 words\, and are a great way to make your voice heard if you are short on time. \nDuring the training\, you’ll learn more about how letters to the editor can make an impact\, best practices for writing letters\, and how to draft and submit your letters. You’ll also learn more about plutonium pit production\, where things stand\, and how you can continue to stay involved in opposing the production of plutonium pits for new nuclear weapons. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:No Kings No Nukes Protest
DESCRIPTION:Join Tri-Valley CAREs at Livermore’s No Kings Protest on March 28 from 10am-12pm at Portola Park in Livermore! \nWe have the power and are claiming it together. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings. No Nukes.  \nWhat began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny\, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever. \nWhen our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink\, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. \nOn March 28th\, rise up\, take to the streets\, and say it loud: no thrones\, no crowns\, no kings. We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it. Join us. \nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind\, including those legally permitted\, should not be brought to events.
